colour theory actually changed the way I look at the world in general

also understanding that when looking at something, there is always objective colour that is real, and then there is perceived colour that we project onto it from our own minds 🤯

the best work comes when im feeling playful just messing around and seeing what works

it takes practise to choicefully enter that flow state, and also requires a complete loss of expectation on yourself

like a child plays

you have to find joy in things not working. it goes against the human desire for perfection but eventually it becomes almost euphoric

just like being a child again

sharing emotions through art, music, writing etc. is a way of communicating a lived truth between people. It’s a deeply human thing and often the connection is quite nuanced - something that you don’t necessarily notice, but sits with you.

we take on a part of the artwork. This is why we see that historically art and music have influenced society and vice versa.

with AI, the shared experience between creator and viewer is missing. It appears impressive, but the emotion is deceptive and surface level.. something that pleases the eye but not the soul. And over time, we take this ‘faux emotion’ on.. it influences us.

we spend our lives working corporate jobs, automating processes and filtering ourselves, let’s not disrupt the things that make us truly individual and human.

(and this is from someone who is not an AI hater, just don’t think it has a place in the world of human emotion.)

Always avoided showing my under sketches on here because i never liked them much… they feel rough, unpolished and uncertain. i always considered myself more of a colourist than a drawer…

But I’m trying to see the beauty in them more - they are the first rough, imperfect but vital, beginnings that direct and inform all the good that follows.

the start of anything amazing in life comes with some uncertainty. I really believe a touch of uncertainty is what drives the best out of people.

The past 2 months have been a crazy period of transformation for me, having to step away from my hobbies and into some moments of serious discomfort instead.

But it made me appreciate the comfort and love that surrounds me when I return to myself, my hobbies and all my own wild trails of thought. its a nice feeling to know that no matter how deep life forces me to go into the unknown, my passions and identity are the grounding force that I will always be able to return to.
